Academic Pressure: 8 out of 10
PROS:
- IF you don't get ECE and you get the IE branch, you should not worry because ECE is almost similar to IE. Some IE students also give gate in ECE. In this case, he has just to learn a few more extra subjects. ECE focuses on the communication of the electronic devices and IE focuses on the functioning and control of electronic devices.
- It is a circuital branch. So, 80-90% software companies allow IE students for tech placements and internships.
- It has also wide level opportunities in core sector. All the electronic and mechanical core companies allow IE students for placement.
- All the consultancy and banking companies allow students to sit in the placement drive, if student is interested in non-tech placement.
- The academic pressure is not so much. So, students get enough time for coding .
- The gate exam of instrumentation engineering is the easiest one. This branch has limited seats in only some few reputed colleges of India. Only 10000 - 15000 students give the gate exam. So , cracking gate exam in instrumentation engineering is the easiest one.
Hiring Companies :
- Samsung Hardware
- Google Hardware
- Texas Instruments
- Vedanta Limited
- Silicon Labs
Electrical Engineering vs Instrumentation Engineering :
Many students are often confused while they should take EE or IE during counselling because generally the cutoff of EE goes higher than IE in all institutes. If the student is interested in coding, he should choose IE because EE is the most difficult engineering branch and it has a lot of academic pressure too. On the other hand, IE is a lightweight branch. So, IE students get a lot of time for coding.
But if the student is interested in core sector, he should take EE because it has more opportunities in the core sector and PSU jobs.
